Top 5 Things to Do in Vegas Before You Die

Las Vegas at NightLas Vegas is the stuff of legends.
It’s the City of Sin.
It’s the set of “The Hangover.”
What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
So, if you’re looking to let loose and have an absolutely wild vacation, there’s no better place to do it than Las Vegas.

Though it’s known as the entertainment capital of the world, the reality is that the vast majority of the tourist action happens on the Las Vegas strip. There you can expect to find their world famous casinos, five star hotels and various shows and entertainment all up and down the strip.  But be aware – there’s just as much excitement off the strip.  Here are five Vegas activities you’ll want to do at least once before your die!

#1: Go Swimming With the Sharks
What’s it like to swim with a giant, sharp-toothed flesh eating predator? If you want to get your blood racing, this is a great way to do it.

Mandalay Bay Sharks

The Mandalay Bay Hotel has a giant shark tank aquarium that you can dive in. You need to be PADI open water certified to do the dive. You also need to be over the age of 18. Apart from these two requirements, all you need is a whole lot of guts.  Fortunately, swimming in the tank is really quite safe. It’s something you’ll never forget and it’ll be a great story to tell friends.

#2: Go Weightless!
If money isn’t an issue and you want to experience something few people on the planet will ever get to experience, look into “Go Zero G”’s weightless experience.

Zero G

As the name suggests, this attraction allows you to experience completely zero gravity, just like astronauts do.

The actual ride happens in a highly altered airplane that does flips in the air. Combined with complex gravity physics, the plane is able to create zero gravity for 30 seconds at a time while flying through the air.  The tickets come in at a steep price – $4,950.   Not for the feint of heart, but maybe a great way to top off a big win at the tables.

#3: Jump Off the Stratosphere Tower
If you want to get one of the best views Las Vegas has to offer and an adrenaline pump you’ll never forget, try doing the jump off the Stratosphere Tower, brought to you by SkyJump Las Vegas.

Sky Jump Las Vegas

You can scream the whole way down and nobody will hear you. If you’ve never skydived or bungee jumped before, the level of fear you’ll experience as you fall several times faster than necessary to kill you is difficult to describe. If you’ve never done it before, what better place to try it for the first time than Sin City?

#4: Eat at Dick’s Last Resort
Dick’s Last Resort is a unique sort of restaurant. They’re famous all over the world, not for their great food, their décor or their smiling staff.   No, they’re famous for something very special: Insulting their guests.

Dick’s staff are specialists at insults. They’ll tell you just how ugly your shirt looks, how much weight you need to lose, how rude you are or how much they wished you’d fail at life.  When you get to Dick’s, there are three things you can expect from the service: You’ll get seated, you’ll get served your food and you’ll get the bill. Apart from that, all is fair game.

Remember not to take anything that’s said here too personally. It’s all part of the game. The staff would be robbing you of the experience if they toned it down for you. Expect to be insulted. It’s funny, it’s unique, it’s Las Vegas.

#5: Try On Your Crime Fighting Skills
If you’re a fan of shows like CSI or Dexter, then MGM’s CSI: The Experience is an attraction you don’t want to miss.

In this attraction, you step into the shoes of a crime scene investigator. The crime scene has been preserved just for you. When you step in, you have to notice every little thing and look for clues. How did the victim die? Who was the killer?  Look for evidence and use your detective skills to solve the mystery. This attraction is actually quite difficult. It’s designed to challenge and amaze you.

These are the top five things you should do in Las Vegas before you die. Of course, temper these five cultural experiences with ample amounts of partying, gambling and other unseemly sorts of entertainment. By the end of your vacation, you’ll have had a truly authentic taste of Las Vegas.

These all look so amazing! I wouldn’t even know where to begin trying to choose one out of these five, if I can ever afford it though at least I have an incredible list of things to do in Vegas!

I’d love to see some more of these lists for other cities, there’s some real gems on here and it makes for a great read.
