Costa Del Sol – Spain’s Ideal Destination For Couples of All Ages

Costa Del Sol – The Ideal Destination For Couples

Every year for as long as I can remember my partner and I have responded to the question of where we’ll be heading on our summer holidays in the same way. It’s the Costa Del Sol for us! You might well wonder why we don’t push the boat out and make the short journey across to Paris, or fly away on a fun filled holiday to Malta. Well it’s because the Costa Del Sol has absolutely everything that we could ever wish for as a holiday destination. Here are a few of the details that really stand out about our time on the ‘sunshine coast’.

Brilliant Beaches

 Costa del Sol Malaga Beach

You’re never far away from a beautiful white sand beach when travelling around the Costa Del Sol. Our favourite sandy stretch is undoubtedly Cabopino in south East Spain. It is a very tranquil place during the day and you can while away a few hours looking at the local boats and playing games underneath the shade of the palm trees. It does become a little busier during the high season, which is when we sometimes escape to the beaches of Tajo de la Saga in Benalmadena.

Wonderful Walks

 Costa del Sol Walk

We’ve discovered that a number of the tourists who visit the Costa Del Sol do little more than lounge about underneath the sun during the day. While there is something to be said for spending your time in such a leisurely manner, we prefer to explore the local countryside. In recent years we’ve had the pleasure of hiking along the Sendero de los Leñadores, which takes in spectacular views of the rolling hills. We’re planning on exploring the routes from Neria to Manliva, as suggested by travel expert Charles Davis, in the new year.

Terrific Towns

One of the main problems that we’ve had is deciding upon which places to stay during Costa del Sol holidays, such is the range of top quality hotels and apartments to rent. We’ve had some pleasurable times walking through the charming streets and lazing about on the beaches of Torremelinos and Fuengirola. We’ve also had fun in Malaga, the home of  the fascinating Piccasso museum and Baroque Cathedral of ‘La Manquita’. And we always try and find the time for day trips to Marbella, where there are a number of art galleries and old buildings to explore.

Fantastic Food

 Paella in Spain

Just like many other travellers we miss our home comforts when on extended holidays in the Costa Del Sol. Thankfully we have managed to find traditional English pubs such as the Oasis and Beehive in Fuengirola, where delicious English meals are served. We have also enjoyed some candlelit dinners at Da Bruno’s Italian restaurant, near the Cabopino beach.

Tempting Tickets

Just recently we’ve managed to find some wonderful discounts on Costa del Sol holidays with Directline-holidays. They even sort out the hotel bookings, so all that you have to do is sit back and look forward to a holiday in the sun!
