As there are over 400 art venues in Chelsea alone, it can be pretty hard to know where to start when vacationing in New York. Thankfully however, there’s only one you really need to go to in order to get the full artistic experience, and that’s David Zwirner’s gallery. This gallery is very influential when it comes to international contemporary art, and his collection of artists is as diverse as they are masterful. From Neo Raunch to Luc Tuymans, David Zwirner has helped to launch the careers of a number of today’s top players, so be sure to visit his gallery to try and spot the next emerging talent!

Lehmann Maupin Gallery

This is another of New York’s wonderful galleries, and having originally been based in Soho, it moved to Chelsea in 2002 to compete with the other industry heavyweights. Also known for its backing and support for upcoming artists and designers, the Lehmann Maupin Gallery even hosts weekend workshops to try and innovate and energise new forms of underground art movements. The gallery itself is a large but contemporary space, and also features the work of Teresita Fernandez.

If left until the last minute, flights to New York can be very expensive, so be sure to check out for the latest and greatest deals on airfares, no matter what time of year you book!

L&M Arts

Although most of the best art galleries are found in Downtown New York, L&M Arts is the Uptown exception, and because it’s a public gallery it’s free to get in! Home to a wonderful collection of great art, from Hirst to Picasso, this cosy townhouse offers a calm and relaxing vibe, and it actually a welcome change from the heavy and industrial gallery spaces that encompass Downtown.
