You will need to use trains, vehicles and boats to traverse some of the most eye-catching scenery in the world. The Oslo to Bergen railway is one example of a journey covering amazing landscapes. Planes can fly you between the best destinations and keep your journey simple but you may miss something on the way.

Winter brings out the winter sports enthusiasts. Have fun on a snowmobile, visiting ice hotels or take a sledge and team of husky’s down wild trails looking for adventure. On the really good nights, the Northern Lights are a display which will literally take your breath away. The best place to see these is Tromso.

Summer is between Mid May and August and the temperature can get as high as the early 200 C (68º F). The land is green and inviting but many of the locals take their own holidays. Spring and autumn are the best time to experience the cities and enjoy the many cultural festivals.

There are a multitude of places to visit while in Scandinavia but the following are a few which should not be missed:

  • It is well-worth visiting the many castles in Denmark and learning about the Kings and Queens. The castles have a distinct style, influenced by the Baroque period.
  • Whale watching is also a great option. Visitors can take a whale safari in Norway and if you are feeling brave it is even possible to swim with these majestic creatures.
  • Take a walking tour across Djurgarden, an island in Stockholm full of parks, events and various activities. It is an excellent recreational area and has over 10 million visitors every year.
  • Visit Legoland! There are 340 billion pieces of Lego all turned into a variety of awe inspiring creations. Buildings, boats, cars and trains are all made from Lego. There are even many rides to try.
  • The Danish Royal Gardens allow visitors a few moments of time out from the bustling city celebrations. Spectacularly maintained and a welcome retreat; just like the rest of Scandinavia.
