Cozy Places To Stay In Sydney Australia

Whether you are an overseas visitor to Australia or an Aussie who wants to get out of the city and explore, you have a lot on offer in the land down under. Australia is one of the few places in the world where you can still find some unspoiled nature. It has mountains, the bush, the ocean and rivers, as well as bustling cities and urban settings.

We bring you some of our favourite places to stay when you want to get away for a little while – or for a long while when visiting the Sydney area.

1.   Blue Mountains Retreats

The Blue Mountains is a region that covers more than 11000 km² west of Sydney and it’s well known for its beautiful nature. You can see high cliffs like The Three Sisters, waterfalls, forests, rivers, bushwalking trails and more. There are villages with guesthouses and some of the best retreats in the country are located right here, inside the Blue Mountains National Park.

Our favourite, award winning luxury retreat is Banjo’s Bushland Retreat, since it is secluded and surrounded by bushland from all sides. There’s an abundance of wildlife, there are sports and adventure facilities and the resort facilities are top notch. Staying here feels like being the only people on Earth while still enjoying the ultimate comfort.

Sangoma Retreat is a place to heal your body and soul. It’s secluded deep in the lush greenery of the Blue Mountains and it’s as close to natural serenity and calm as it gets. This eco-certified retreat features an infinity pool, a sauna and 5 suites with big windows overlooking the forest which makes it an ideal romantic getaway.

Another favorite is Katoomba Blue Mountain Retreat which is perfect for a honeymoon or a getaway with your beloved. It’s secluded and peaceful, but still close to the main Blue Mountains attractions, and it has gorgeous valley views from every room. It’s a small wooden retreat with only two suites that makes it cozy and special.

Basically, anywhere you choose to stay in the Blue Mountains, you won’t make a mistake. The region is just stunning and lets you get away from the real world for as long as you can afford.

2.   Sydney Boutique Hotels

There are many wonderful boutique hotels in Sydney and it can be difficult to choose one. However, there’s also a lot of variety in prices and in atmosphere, so looking around a bit might be the best option if you want to be properly informed before making a decision. They range from 5 star lux hotels to charming Victorian historic buildings renovated into hotels.

If you want to feel welcome and cosy up in a beautiful boutique hotel, consider Randwick serviced apartments offered by Avonmore on the Park. This hotel is located opposite Allison Park, on the Avenue. You can see from their online brochures that furniture and fixtures invite the warm and pleasant nostalgia of the Victorian era. Some rooms come with a fireplace, which is a definite plus if you are on the hunt for period hotels.

The most luxurious boutique hotel in Sydney is The Darling, located in Pyrmont, near the Sydney Harbour. It boasts, among other things, cutting edge contemporary design and technology, panoramic views of Sydney’s skyline and a eucalyptus-scented pool.

Another luxurious boutique hotel is Establishment Hotel. It’s located in the middle of Sydney’s CBD, so it’s close to everything. This elegant and chic hotel was awarded the HM Award for Best Boutique Hotel in 2013.

Another interesting place worth a mention is QT, a 200-suite hotel in the city centre, located in the building that was once the State Theatre. This boutique hotel is different and a little bit quirky: the door staff will greet you wearing stockings, heels, red wigs and berets. The interior has a Gothic, art deco style and there are many retro elements, like the traditional barber’s shop. The restaurant menu is no less unusual, so if you are looking for something reminiscent of a strange book setting, this is it.

3.   Sydney Cruises

You might be surprised to learn that you can get discounted cruise deals for less money than you would pay for a retreat or a hotel. There are many cruise deal offers in Australia and a little research will be enough to find good deals, especially if you look for first or last minute sales.

There are 3-4 day Sydney harbor cruises, Pacific Island hoppers, Barrier Reef explorations, cruises to Indonesia, New Guinea and other islands off of the coast of Australia. You get to see and experience a lot more while on a cruise ship than while you are on land. There is fishing, snorkeling, guided kayaking, surfing, diving, whale and dolphin watching, bird watching, visiting aquariums and botanical gardens, food and wine experiences, heritage experiences, visiting the Aborigines and so much more. All the while, you get to stay on a luxurious cruise ship that offers everything a modern hotel does.

It is impossible to pick a favorite, but we highly recommend the magnificent Twofold Bay on Australia’s East Coast as your starting point, as it is one of the deepest natural harbours in the southern hemisphere.

Australia is one of the cleanest and best preserved places on the planet, so look around a bit and we are sure that you will find a place that perfectly fits you. You might even love it so much you want to stay forever. But that’s another story.
