#1. The Outdoors

When you think of Toronto, you might picture a concrete jungle. But did you know some amazing local parks are just steps away from the downtown scene? And autumn can be one of the best times of the year to visit Toronto because of the beautiful fall foliage. Here’s a few parks you need to check out:

High Park

High Park is the biggest and most beautiful park in Toronto with free playgrounds and even a free zoo. This park is a must-see in spring with blooming trees and in fall with gorgeous autumn foliage.

Trinity Bellwoods Park

Trinity Bellwoods Park is located on the west end of Toronto, Canada. This park is home to the uncommon white squirrels. Take the kids on a squirrel hunt as it is deemed good luck to spot one. The park also boasts a wide variety of trees in various stages of growth, making this a great spot to picnic in the fall.

Evergreen Brickworks

With guided tours, hiking trails, farmer’s markets, and tons of other events and activities scheduled throughout the year — Evergreen Brickworks is truly unique and a must-see on your vacation.

#2. The Festivals

Toronto, Ontario, Canada is home to many large festivals and fairs all year round. In summer, Toronto hosts Canada’s largest gay pride festival, among many others. But the fun doesn’t stop at summer’s end. Fall brings a ton of festival fun along with the warm drinks, cozy sweaters, and crunchy leaves. Here’s a few to add to your travel itinerary:

Film Festivals

One of the biggest film festivals to hit Toronto, the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) held in early September, brings Hollywood to Canada. If Halloween is the most magical time of the year in your opinion, you’ve got to visit for the Toronto After Dark Film Festival in mid-October.

Food and Drink Festivals

So maybe entertainment isn’t really your thing but you could talk for days about your favorite restaurant or pub. Toronto in autumn has some great festival options for you, just take a look at a few:

Who doesn’t love a good Oktoberfest? Toronto goes all-out in late September with real Bavarian-style communal tables, great food, polka music, and lots of beer! If you’d rather sip a glass of wine, check out the Niagara Wine Festival earlier in September.

Niagara Wine District

Not much of a drinker? No problem. Toronto hosts festivals for all interests. Chocoholics will enjoy the Toronto Chocolate Festival throughout November.
