The USS Midway was the United States’ longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century, enjoying a career from 1942 to 1992. The carrier itself was the largest ship in the world until 1955 and is an engineering marvel.

You can see the USS Midway at the USS Midway Museum, located in downtown San Diego. The ship is the home to an extensive collection of aircraft, dozens of which were built in southern California.  More than 200,000 sailors served aboard the USS Midway; head here if you love nothing more than to lose yourself in history.
