Dublin, Ireland’s capital and most famous city, is packed with charm, culture, history and an enviable nightlife. Tourists flock from all over the world to experience the many attractions and beautiful architecture of the city.

UK-based London City Airport has been working with travel and lifestyle bloggers to find top tips and advice for a trip to Dublin. We’re sharing some of their thoughts here to help inspire our readers for their own Irish city break.

Hit the town, Dublin style

Natalie from The Tofu Diaries says: “I know it’s a cliché but Ireland really does have a cracking night life with pubs and bars to suit every taste. The 1920s style cocktail bar, The Liquor Rooms, and Mexican bar & restaurant 777 are both a good place to start the evening, but be sure to book a table – yes even for bars! For proper pubs and traditional live music, there’s Temple Bar and for a more varied music scene, plenty of drinks and fresh stone-baked pizza served out of a double-decker bus(!), head out to The Bernard Shaw south of the city.”

Pay a visit to Dublin Castle

Swati and Sam from The Tales of A Traveler say: “Iconic Dublin castle, built on a medieval plan of two courtyards, is not just beautiful but every wall and facade speaks volumes of Irish history. The castle which is accessible and open for tourists, has stood on the site since the days of King John, the first Lord of Ireland. Apart from the castle there are fine buildings all around the town which showcases the city’s love for art and architecture.” 

Enjoy a stroll through St Stephen’s Green

Nial and Helen from Pikalily say: “Smack bang in the middle of Dublin city centre is the popular St Stephen’s Green, with the shops of Grafton Street and the gallop of horse-drawn carriages providing familiar sounds.  Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the shops by taking a stroll through the park and feeding the ducks.  Perfect anytime of the year but extra special in autumn with the vibrant autumn colours.”

Casey from Casey B says:  “Dublin was, without doubt, best at night. Walks along the River Liffey after spending the evening in a toasty authentic pub sipping beer was definitely the perfect way to round off days in Dublin.”

Visit in the spring

Andreea from Your Beauty says: “Spring time is my favorite season in Dublin, everything comes back to life and the city is becoming a rainbow of colors. From yellow daffodils that are popping around every corner, contrasting with the lively ever green grass to delicate cherry blossomed trees. Besides walking around the pier, enjoying an ice cream cone, make sure you explore the Dun Laoghaire suburban area, the ‘marshmallow’ trees are something that must be captured on camera.”

Explore O’Connell Street

Sarah from Sarah Sees The World says: “O’Connell Street is etched in history. Looking straight down this busy street you can see the Millennium Spire, the statue of Daniell O’Connell, the General Post Office. So much has happened here, and yet at the top your eye is immediately drawn to the lime green Tourist Office and modern advertising in the form of a transparent Nokia Billboard, utilising the building exterior in it’s execution. The advertising agency too saw something in this facade.”
