Star Clipper Cruise Review – Antigua and St. Barts

As we pull close to Antigua, here finally are the aquamarine waters that I associate with Caribbean waters. We're supposed to be docking in the port of Falmouth, known for the multimillion dollar yachts anchored in the gorgeous bay, but the swell is too high and...

Star Clipper Review – Ports of Nevis & Dominica

Anchored off Charlestown early on Sunday morning, we were thrilled to see Nevis' peak was in full view and not wreathed in clouds as is so often the case. Phillip, our cruise director, cautioned that Nevis is a sleepy little community on an average...

We Have Secrets To Share – A Trip Report

Secrets Wild Orchid Resort JamaicaJamaica has a new all-inclusive luxury resort that’s just opened in Montego Bay promising “Unlimited-Luxury” for their guests.  Secrets Wild Orchid and Secrets St. James sit side by side on a lovely stretch of beach just a short journey from the airport.   It’s time to let the Secrets out – these are beautiful properties!

I’m just back from the first-ever Travel Bloggers Meet-Up in Jamaica where we were hosted by Secrets Resorts and the Jamaican Tourism Board.  You can be sure we took full advantage of all the Unlimited Luxury and tested all the resort amenities – on YOUR behalf of course!  Here are some of the delights in store for you when you choose a luxurious Jamaica Holiday.

Wild Orchid Beach
Resort Amenities:  These properties are all about couples and providing romantic landscapes.  Both resorts are adults-only with plenty of waterside activities – gorgeous beaches, swim up bars, multiple pool complexes, and seaside restaurants.  The beach towels and loungers are plentiful (no need to get up a dawn and claim your lounge chair – I hate that!!)   This property has done it right with loads of areas for relaxing by the pools and beachfront.

Affordable Turks and Caicos – We've Found A Hidden Gem

Grace Bay BeachAs Turks and Caicos continues to welcome an amazing array of new upscale hotels and restaurants that attract a loyal following of celebrities and a-list vacationers, it has also become a financially challenging destination for many. It seems like yesterday when mentioning Turks and Caicos would draw quizzical looks from vacationers – where???  But word soon spread about the 12 mile stretch of pristine beach along Grace Bay and the short less than 3 hour flying time from northeast airports.  Before long world class condo-hotel developments sprang up all along famed Grace Bay beach and the number of visitors grew proportionately.  As new resorts opened, prices inevitably climbed.

The Island ClubThat’s why I’m so excited to let you know about a wonderful (and affordable) vacation property that’s just 900 feet from Grace Bay beach.  Many of you know that Turks and Caicos has been our favorite island destination for many years and we were thrilled to learn about The Island Club

6 Weeks In The Dominican Republic – A Trip Report

Bavaro Beach Punta CanaWe’ve just left the Dominican Republic after renting a condo in Punta Cana for 6 weeks to escape the miserable New England winter weather, and we’re happy to report is was a great success.  Here’s what you need to know about vacationing in the DR.

Overall Impressions of the DR:

  • As I walked along a sidewalk in St. Kitts today, it struck me that I truly miss the lyrical call of every person passing by offering a cheery, “Hola!” – almost like a song, and always accompanied by a smile.  The Dominican people are a pleasure to know – easy going, likely to be singing, quick with a smile, handshake and hug.  We enjoyed meeting ‘the locals’ and conversed with them as best we could.
