Anchored off Charlestown early on Sunday morning, we were thrilled to see Nevis' peak was in full view and not wreathed in clouds as is so often the case. Phillip, our cruise director, cautioned that Nevis is a sleepy little community on an average day, and Sundays are even quieter.
Last winter Clint and I were gazing out to sea at sunset from a funky beach bar on St. Kitts. Off in the distance was the most beautiful sailing ship gliding majestically through the bay with soft sunlight reflecting off its billowing sails. Right then and there I knew I had to get on that ship! A bit of detective work determined that the gorgeous 4 masted schooner was one of Star Clipper's sailing ships and you guessed it... this winter we went sailing with Star Clipper on a journey through the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean. The ever changing shades of aquamarine are stunning as we skip over the waves. Before long Captain Pat swings us around as he spots huge sting rays sweeping across the flats. Next stop - an amazing coral grotto big enough for us to enter boat and all. Our morning is spent zipping between one beautiful island to another, ogling at movie star's private cays and trying to out-race the occasional squall.

Our enthusiastic group of two dozen Travel Bloggers joined hands and slipped and dipped our way upward. We were fortunate to have arrived late in the afternoon and had the climb all to ourselves.
